In a forward–looking and strategic move, the World Branding Federation (WBFC) initiated a formal partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in November 2024, culminating in a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in May 2025.
This alliance reflects WIPO’s deep confidence in WBFC’s mission to develop standardized, scientific frameworks for brand evaluation, even before brands enter complex legal registration procedures.
Through this partnership, WIPO has officially recognized WBFC as a specialized global authority capable of scientifically assessing brands and preparing them for successful entry into international trademark systems. WIPO’s formal commitment to “protect the freedom and ownership of brands evaluated by WBFC” further reinforces our responsibility in safeguarding the legal identity of brands worldwide.
This MoU represents a significant breakthrough for small and medium–sized enterprises (SMEs), which often lack the resources and legal expertise to protect their intellectual assets. Our collaboration with WIPO offers clear and direct advantages:
• Facilitated Global Registration Pathways: Brands achieving qualifying scores in WBFC evaluations will be able to enter global registration systems, such as the Madrid System, with stronger, more credible documentation, significantly increasing their chances of approval.
• Access to Specialized IP Education: Through this partnership, SMEs gain access to exclusive WIPO training sessions and workshops focused on intellectual property and brand protection, resources previously reserved for large corporations.
• Consultation for Infringement Risks: Evaluated brands can benefit from expert legal consultation and WBFC’s global brand protection network, helping reduce the cost and risk of international market entry.
With this initiative, WBFC steps beyond the role of an evaluator, we are building a vital bridge between brand strategy and the legal frameworks of intellectual property. This partnership addresses a long–standing global gap, and we have committed ourselves to filling it.
Our vision for expanding this alliance includes:
• Launching a “Fast–Track Pathway” within WIPO systems for WBFC–approved brands
• Integrating IP diagnostic tools into the WBFC evaluation platform
• And creating a co–branded seal of endorsement, symbolizing a brand that is both strategically sound and legally protected on the world stage.
Under a 15-year strategic cooperation agreement between the World Branding Federation (WBFC) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a formal and robust framework has been established to support your brand on the global stage. The core objective of this alliance is to build a direct bridge between WBFC’s scientific brand evaluation standards and the legal processes of international intellectual property protection.
As part of this agreement, WIPO officially recognizes WBFC’s evaluation standards as a credible benchmark for assessing brand readiness for global registration. A fundamental pillar of this collaboration is its complete political neutrality, meaning that our support for your brand is never subject to sanctions, restrictions, or geopolitical limitations. The entire process is governed solely by scientific principles and international legal standards.
This framework delivers concrete and practical benefits for brands certified by WBFC:
• After obtaining the WBFC certification, your brand will gain access to a smoother registration path and stronger supporting documentation when entering global trademark systems such as the Madrid System.
• You will also enjoy exclusive access to WIPO–led workshops, legal insights, and expert consultation on brand protection and intellectual property strategy.
• Most importantly, WIPO is officially committed to defending the intellectual property rights of WBFC–certified brands in cases of infringement or unauthorized use.
This structure ensures that only authentic, ethical, and strategically sound brands benefit from this privileged access. Ultimately, the WBFC certification evolves from a mark of excellence into a powerful legal and commercial key for international brand growth and protection.
At the World Branding Federation (WBFC), we believe that a brand is a living, independent, and global identity—one that deserves to be evaluated based on its authenticity and merit, not on geographic or political constraints. That’s why the Global Brand Assessment Initiative is fundamentally built on the principle of political neutrality.
Our strategic partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) reinforces this principle, ensuring that your brand’s evaluation and certification process remains completely unaffected by any political sanctions or economic restrictions. If you reside in a country subject to international limitations, your brand will still be judged solely on scientific, strategic, and branding excellence—free from political influence.
You may be an entrepreneur, professional, or artist who hasn’t yet registered your brand—either locally or internationally. That is not a problem. Our philosophy is clear: a brand’s identity comes before its legal registration. The initiative is designed to evaluate any brand entity—corporate or personal—as an independent global identity. In fact, this process can help you prepare and align your brand documents for international registration, even if you haven’t taken that legal step yet.
This inclusive approach especially applies to personal brands. We believe that every individual—regardless of economic or cultural background—deserves the opportunity to develop a scientifically structured personal brand and earn global recognition.
Whether you represent a major corporation, an SME, a personal brand, or reside in a sanctioned country, one truth remains constant: in the WBFC ecosystem, your brand’s authenticity and value are the only things that matter. We’re here to help you claim and secure your rightful place on the global stage—beyond all limitations.
